BIO
Born in Illinois, but raised by the sounds of Chicago, Kiddwrek (formally known as DJ Wrek) has come from the world of music since the age of 10. Whether it would be beating on the tables or playing the piano, he was always behind the scene of sound. But listening to the sound of house music motivated Wrek to become who he is today.....a producer and a DJ! At the age of 15, he began making house music beats and mixing his own work within itself, 24/7. His biggest influence became Bad Boy Bill, who is one of the greatest dj's ever known today. He also had other great influences such as Julian Jumpin Perez, DJ Farris, Eric the Wiz, and Farley Jackmaster Funk.
In 1997, Wrek was finally able to work the decks and began spinning at house parties and small events his cousin would throw once a month at clubhouses. People from other states would come out to Chicago to rock right along with Wrek and DJ Groove, who at the time was with UC Music. Wrek flowed his mixing style right into hard house, after coming from an era of old skool house. Chicago's very own Alex Peace, DJ Bam Bam, and CZR became Wrek's biggest influences also. But it wasn't until the yr 2000, where he was introduced to the underground house music. He eventually met up with DJ Dagwood, who was with IHR at the time and was able to spin at his first club in Chicago, which was The Drink. In the summer of 2002, Wrek had met with up another DJ, Carlos V who ran a local dj shop called Spin Muzik. There, Wrek was able to hit the crowd with his style of mixing and scratching and also placed second in a Battle of the DJ'S contest there. He later became a resident at a couple of local clubs in Chicago.
After spinning in clubs for a while, Wrek was still in creativity land and got heavy into recording engineering which was motivated by his older brother, Big Mig, aka Miguel Mixdown. Combining his piano playing skills with his spinning skills, Wrek started producing cd's often, such as demos, fool around cd's, and mixes just for himself to listen to. He also produced songs/beats to help local artists such as rappers, singers, and even producers prepare for music seminars held by WGCI (107.5). Afterwards, Wrek laid low for a while and decided to start his own label called Underground Housewerkz. In 2005, Wrek went back to his roots and hopped into producing music, creating ill hip hop beats, house traxx, and working with other singers and rappers as well. He also teamed up with his friend Dr. Base and ran a label called Structured Muziq, creating some ground breaking mixes together, and there Wrek began elevating ever since! With music in his blood, Wrek now searches for ways to help share the love and respect for music. With the inspiration from some of the best dj's, producers, and musicians across the world, Wrek draws closer to his dreams and looks on to be a part of the circle of producers and dj?s, who bring what people need today, music! And by no doubt, if nothing else, there is one thing that Wrek believes in music............ Takin it to another level!!!
